Main field of research is Marine Ecology. First research projects focused on the ecology of several fisheries resources. Following Ph.D., estuarine ecology and particularly the ecology of juvenile fish became the main research topic. Nowadays, his research stands on three domains, ecology of coastal systems, fisheries, and marine conservation, and two transversal themes, methodological comparisons and assessment of human impacts, as follows:
Fish ecology

-
Patterns in habitat use
-
Nursery function
-
Inter-habitat and inter-estuary connectivity
